While 2017 marked the consecration of its architects (RCR Arquitectes) who were awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize, this winter Musée Soulages features one of the twentieth century’s major figures of architecture and town planning: Le Corbusier. Proposed in close cooperation with the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris, “L’Atelier de la recherche patiente, un métier” is an exhibition specifically created for Rodez based on Le Corbusier’s “self-portrait” of his career. Published in 1960, this book, written but also arranged by Le Corbusier himself, shows the full extent of his intellectual and artistic development, often incorrectly limited to architecture alone.

In line with the book, the exhibition features a selection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, sketches, tapestries and drawings in an unusual setting to illustrate and gain an understanding of that famous concept which Le Corbusier liked to call “synthesis of the arts”.

The exhibition is created in partnership with the Fondation Le Corbusier.
